DCI boss Mohamed Amin on Thursday hosted a high-profile delegation from the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).
This come in as the Directorate seeks to strengthen ties with the established U.S investigative agency.
The delegation led by FBI’s Assistant Director Raymond P. Duda, arrived at the headquarters to a warm reception by Amin.
The two investigative agencies have had a longstanding partnership for many years specifically in combating terrorism and violent extremism.
Other areas are transnational organised crimes such as drugs and human trafficking, money laundering and smuggling of wildlife trophies among others.
During the meeting, Duda who jetted into the country, Thursday morning, lauded the Directorate’s efforts in fighting terrorism and violent extremism.
"The FBI is committed to continue supporting the Directorate in developing its human resource capacity to deal with the ever-present threat of terror," Duda said.
Amin thanked his visitor for the continued partnership and collaboration.
"Especially in supporting the DCI Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) and in the establishment of the unit’s special counter-terror team the Emergency Response Team (ERT)," Amin said
Amin appreciated the inter-agency cooperation that the two institutions have had, which he credited for the reduced instances of terror attacks not only in the country but also across the region.
The DCI boss further pledged to the cooperation by building on the foundation laid by his predecessors and seeking new partnerships for the safety and security.
Duda’s visit comes soon after another high-profile visit in July by FBI’s International Operations Deputy Assistant Director Alvin Winston.
Winston presented a number of crucial investigation kits essential for investigating cases affecting vulnerable children.
The kits were donated in honour of FBI Special Agents Dan Alfin and Laura Schwartzenberger.
The two devoted their careers to investigating crimes against children and were murdered on February 2, 2022, while serving a search warrant in a crime against children investigation in Florida, USA.
