It was an early Christmas for children at Mama Ngina Children's home in Kisumu as they received donations from well-wishers.
The aid comes in handy for children, the majority of which are living with different forms of disability and health challenges.
The well-wishers, a team from four organizations, delivered a consignment of assorted foodstuff and other basic items to enable the vulnerable children to celebrate Christmas and the New Year.
The well-wishers were from two local organizations including the Grand Voyage and Olympic Handlers and the Gems Travel, and Gems Immigration firms both based in the USA.
The team led by Gurvinder Sekhan handed over the foodstuff to the children, saying this was a way of giving back to the less fortunate and the community that raised her.
Gurvinder said she was born and brought up in Kisumu before moving to the USA and the donations were for the little children to enjoy their Christmas.
Some of the items received by the children's home include maize and wheat flour, cooking oil, milk, groceries, shoes, bed sheets, blankets and clothes amongst others.
Mama Ngima facility manager Juliana Warindi noted that due to the rising cost of living, the home was hard hit by food shortage but thanked God for the help of well-wishers.
"I want to thank and applaud the humanitarian gesture exuded by various donors."
The area MP Joshua Oron and Kisumu East MP Shakeel Shabbir were present during the event and assured the facility of their support to ensure that the kids were well taken care of.
“Children going to secondary school from this home will be sponsored and supported using the CDF bursary kitty,” Oron assured.
