President William Ruto has said they have prioritised the provision of spacious, comfortable, safe, secure and affordable housing for police officers in the Affordable Housing plan.
Ruto speaking in Nyeri on Tuesday said the move is in connection with improving the welfare and working conditions of police officers.
"This will go a long way in delivering our pledge to address the housing shortage facing members of the police service," he said.
He asked the leadership of the discipline forces to be in consultation with the Ministry for Housing to realise the plan.
"Be in consultation with the ministry so that we can fast track and prioritise the delivery of housing for our officers," he said.
"It will be more efficient by ensuring their children and families are properly catered for by living in decent affordable housing."
In February 17, 2022, the then Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i said government will partner with the police Sacco to construct modern houses for officers under the tenant-purchase arrangement.
Matiang'i said the Sacco deposits supplemented by Treasury funds will make the project a reality.
He challenged the Police Sacco to explore public-private partnerships with Kenya Treasury to construct decent and affordable accommodation for police officers to acquire through rent-to-own contracts.
