Former IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati has lauded the staff as the real heroes.
Chebukati who retired on Tuesday said the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission employees put their best foot forward in conducting the August 9 polls.
"To the IEBC staff, thank you for working tirelessly and with dedication despite difficult circumstances at times," he said in his goodbye message to the secretariat.
"You are the true heroes."
Chebukati had previously claimed that many of the IEBC staff faced, intimidation, harassment, torture, abductions and even murder while executing the last general election.

"I was appointed chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission on January 18, 2017 for a constitutional term of six years. Yesterday (Tuesday), I successfully completed my term."
Chebukati was on Tuesday treated to a presidential farewell party at State House where the President and top Kenya Kwanza leaders hailed him for his courage.
