Busia court upholds Governor Otuoma’s election

Busia Governor Paul Otuoma.

The court in Busia has upheld the election of Governor Paul Otuoma.

The county chief’s election was upheld after the court threw out a petition that sought to nullify his August 2022 election.

The petitioner— former Nambale MP John Bunyasi was his main challenger during the August 9, polls.

The court at the same time instructed Bunyasi to pay Sh3 million in costs.

“Justice at last,” Otuoma said on his official Facebook page shortly after his election was upheld.

The former Nambale MP had alleged that there were multiple irregularities during the polls which, according to him, worked in his disfavour.

Otuoma was declared the winner in the gubernatorial race after garnering 164,478 votes against Bunyasi’s 92,144.

Others in the race were Daniel Mogoria who got 14,396 votes followed by Ojaamong’s deputy Moses Mulomi who received 2,546 votes and Michael Oloo who had 1,675 votes. Michael Oloo came last with 1,675 votes.
