150 acres to be availed for Kitale town expansion - Ruto

President William Ruto has said his administration will avail up to 150 acres of land to allow for the expansion of Kitale town. 

Speaking when he met Trans-Nzoia county leaders at State House, Nairobi on Wednesday, Ruto said roads within the town will be upgraded and the sewerage lines fixed.

"I regret that Kitale is in a sorry state yet it has a huge potential of being a city," he said. 

Also to be upgraded is the 15-kilometre Kipsongo-Kitalale road, 28-kilometre Airstrip-Saboti-Gituamba-Kaptama and the 75-kilometre Turbo-Barbaton-Kissawai-Endebess roads.

“In less than three months, we will equip the Trans-Nzoia County Referral Hospital with the most modern facilities," the President said.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and Governor George Natembeya were present during the meeting. 

Also present were; Health CS Susan Nakhumicha, Foreign Affairs PS Korir Sing’oei, MPs Lillian Siyoi, Patrick Simiyu, Allan Chesang’ and Ferdinand Wanyonyi were also in the session.

Ruto has been meeting several leaders at the State House on matters  development since he got into office. 

On Monday, he met 28 leaders from Luo Nyanza. 

The leaders included former governors, MPs, chairs of boards and ex-aspirants in the August 9 general election, have been working with ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo for the last six months.

Among those present were former governors Evans Kidero (Nairobi), Jack Ranguma (Kisumu), Okoth Obado (Migori) and former Kisumu Senator Fred Outa.

Others were former MPs Nicholas Gumbo (Rarieda), Aloo Ogeka (Muhoroni), MP Daima Pollyins (Nyakach), their Rangwe counterpart Martin Ogindo and former nominated Senator Rose Nyamunga.

Former police spokesman Charles Owino, former Migori MP John Pesa, his Kisumu Town West counterpart Ken Nyagudi and former EALA legislator Clarkson Karan were also present.

Others were former Nairobi deputy speaker Ken Obuya, ex-Kisumu majority leader Sammy Ong'ou, former Alego Usonga MP Otieno Otieno Mak'Onyango, former Kasipul Kabondo MP Silvance Osele and ex-Awendo MP Jack Opiyo.
