Members of Parliament affiliated with President William Ruto's party have insisted there will be no handshake between the head of state and ODM's Raila Odinga.
Their sentiments come hours after Ruto extended an olive branch to Raila, urging him to call off the planned demos and embrace the bipartisan parliamentary approach in terms of his demands.
On Sunday, addressing the media at Capitol Hill, Raila termed Ruto's statement as "important" and a "positive" development.
"We acknowledge Mr Ruto’s olive branch for a dialogue on key issues raised by Azimio La Umoja. To us, this is a positive development." Raila said.
"I believe that Kenya is today facing its worst crisis in decades out of which we could recover or go the way of other failed states."
Appearance before MPs
Former ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru and ex-Head of Civil Service Joseph Kinyua are expected to appear before the committee on Finance and National Planning today in an ongoing inquiry into Sh6.09 billion buyback and legal status of Telkom Kenya.
The National Assembly committee, chaired by Kuria Kimani (Molo MP), seeks to establish if the law was followed in the disbursement of the money under Article 223 of the Constitution.
Nationwide protests
President William Ruto on Sunday said the protests that were going on in the country for the last two weeks have negatively impacted Kenya's image.
Speaking while addressing the Nation at State House, Nairobi, Ruto urged Raila to call off the demos, stating that he is open to dialogue.
"I am open to having a discussion with leaders from across the divide in matters that will take our country forward," the President stated.
