All the road projects neglected by the Jubilee administration are going to be re-launched, Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has assured Kenyans as he told off critics.

Murkomen cited the projects that were launched by then Deputy President William Ruto which he said were sabotaged following the fallout with his boss retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.

He was responding to Alego Usonga MP Sam Atandi who appeared to criticize him over the relaunch of a road in Nyandarua by President Ruto on Thursday.

“Mheshimiwa, we are restarting all the road projects that were abandoned by the Handshake administration especially those abandoned because the then DP Ruto launched them,” said Murkomen.

While taking to his social media pages, Atandi termed the move irrelevant.

“CS Murkomen is of course one of the top cabinet secretaries in the Kenya Kwanza regime. A brilliant mind whose approval process took less than a minute in Parliament, but his action to launch a project the second time is sacrilegious,” he said.

Ruto launched the 55km Captain- Ndemi-Wanjohi-Kwa Matu-Geta-Kahuruko-Ndunyu Njeru and Access to Karima Girls High School roads on Thursday, a project he had also launched in 2018 attracting criticisms.

Kenyans were quick to react to it sharing his tweet of 2018 indicating he had already launched the road.

The head of state, however, defended his action saying many projects he started when he was Deputy President were deliberately denied funding even though they were in the government's programme.

“During last year's election campaigns, President Ruto promised to complete all stalled projects, including roads,” State House Spokesperson, Hussein Mohammed said in a statement.

“Today, it's evident that the architects of these schemes that they thought would frustrate President Ruto, ultimately hurt the people, the economy and Kenya.”
