Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has announced his ministry is working on opening two new security roads in Baringo. 

Speaking in Parliament, Wednesday, when he appeared before the MPs Kindiki said his team is working towards finding the solution to insecurities in the country. 

"We are moving equipment, we are looking forward to the discussion on two major roads that will take care of Arabal Hills and into the Laikipia Nature Conservancy," he said. 

Kindiki added that he will be going back to the operation area and stay there a little bit longer to find a solution to the ongoing banditry. 

The Interior CS also announced that his ministry has also approved an additional 200 National Police Reservists— 100 for Baringo South and 100 for Baringo North. 

"Training of the NPRs will commence before Friday, I have provided the money for their training immediately," he said 

NPRs have been deployed in the Baringo area to support the Rift Valley multi-agency security team.

In November 2022, President William Ruto assured the residents of Kerio Valley that his government will take decisive measures to ensure security and peace in the region. 

"We will ensure this region is peaceful, we want our children to go to school and the people to focus on meaningful economic activities," he said.
