Azimio La Umoja Leader Raila Odinga has invited Muranga County residents to turn up in large numbers for a town hall meeting.
In a statement, the Opposition leader called the resident to freely engage on issues affecting them.
"Like all engagements that the party has held in recent months, the Muranga meeting will be peaceful and strictly within the law," he said.
Raila further stated that the coalition plans similar engagements in different parts of the country over the next couple of weeks.
The meeting, according to Raila will be held in Muranga Town on Thursday from 10 am.
His call comes hours after police cancelled the same Thursday's meeting in Murang'a.
Murang’a police commander David Mathiu rejected the meeting on the basis that Azimio submitted a late notice.
Mathiu argued that the notice was to be served four days earlier for proper planning but the Raila Odinga-led coalition submitted it on Tuesday.
As a result, the meeting will not be allowed to take place.
The Raila-led coalition had planned a tour of Mt Kenya to charge his supporters from the region as he prepares to resume the weekly demonstrations.
Usawa kwa Wote party leader Mwangi wa Iria who recently vowed to lead the demonstrations against the Kenya Kwanza in the region had announced he will be hosting the team.
"We are coming to engage the people, those who have been asking why Murang'a has not participated in the national debate calling for a reduction in the cost of living, finally we are here," he said.
