The Teachers Service Commission has come out to explain why there are delays in salary disbursement to newly recruited Junior Secondary School teachers .

The commission recently recruited up to 35,500 Junior Secondary School teachers.

In a statement, TSC acknowledged that nearly a half of the new recruits are yet to receive their pay.

The commission explained that the delays were occassioned by different reporting time of the teachers in the schools they were posted.

The new teachers reported to their work stations in February and some in March this year, TSC says.

"As is procedure, the recruits are given 30 days within which to report to their various stations, which leads to some commencing their work later than others.

"This sometimes causes delays in the processing of their salaries."

So far, the commission says it has processed over 50 per cent of the salaries of the newly employed teachers.

The commission added that it is working round the clock to ensure the rest of the teachers receive their dues in May.

"We apologise for any delays that may have been occasioned by late reporting of teachers to their stations, or delayed submission of requisite documents. All efforts are being made to effect all the salaries in May ," the commission said .
