Jubilee National Disciplinary Committee has laid four charges against former Ndaragua MP Jeremiah Kioni.
In a letter signed by the committee, Jubilee requested disciplinary action against Kioni.
The party has since suspended Kioni as secretary general, vice chairperson David Murathe and National Treasurer Kagwe Gichohi over what it termed as gross misconduct.
Kioni is accused of purporting to speak on behalf of the party without reference to party organs and making pronouncements “that is beyond the description of his official duties in the constitution.”
One of the cases the party pointed out was “taking a decision Jubilee party would not be fielding candidates in Kandara, Garissa Township and Elgeyo Marakwet as reported widely in the media without consulting the relevant party organs.”
Kioni is also accused of failing to secure the interests of the party in the appointments of parliamentary committees.
“Fatuma Dullo’s position as Senate Minority Whip was lost to Ledama Olekina, a member of ODM and Senator Margaret Kamar’s membership of the Senate Business Committee lost to Senator Agnes Kavindu Muthama, a member of Wiper Democratic Movement,” the letter explained.
He is further accused of failing to run the party professionally and lastly not presenting the annual work and activities to the National Management Committee for approval.
Murathe is accused of failing to secure the interests of the party in Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition.
He is also accused of failing to ensure the party has a strong voice in the coalition. Murathe is further accused of not securing the interest of the party in the appointment of parliamentary committees.
Gichohi is accused of gross misconduct, refusing or neglecting to carry out directives of the party and lacking respect for the decisions of party organs.
Jubilee is embroiled in leadership problems, as two factions battle to control the once-powerful party.
On 26 April, one group linked to retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and another one supporting President William Ruto, stormed the party headquarters in Nairobi, with each claiming authority to be in office.
Jubilee Party, an affiliate of the opposition coalition Azimio la Umoja, supported Raila Odinga in his quest to seek the Presidency last year, but members split after Ruto was announced the winner.
