Bishop David Oginde will on Monday be sworn in as the Chairperson of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
Chief Justice Martha Koome will preside over the swearing-in ceremony of Oginde at around 4 pm.
“The event will take place tomorrow, May 8, 2023, at 4 pm, Supreme Court Building,” a press invite from the Judiciary said.
Oginde, with a net worth of Sh170 million, was one of the three individuals who had been shortlisted by the Public Service Commission to succeed Archbishop (Emeritus) Eliud Wabukala.
Wabukala served a successful six-year non-renewable term.
The other two were former Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana and Amani Komara.
The EACC Act says that the chairperson and members of the EACC serve a non-renewable term of six years.
During vetting by a Parliamentary committee, Oginde proposed amending the law to provide for the timelines to hear and determine corruption cases.
He also suggested that the commission should be empowered with prosecutorial powers.
MPs however told him the commission is sufficiently equipped to undertake its constitutional mandate.
Oginde is the immediate former Presiding Bishop of Christ is the Answer Ministries (CITAM) and is also the immediate former Chancellor of Pan Africa Christian (PAC) University.
He holds a PhD in Organisational Leadership from Regent University School of Business and Leadership, USA and a Master's Degree in Leadership from Pan Africa Christian University.
