Kisii Senator Richard Onyoka has accused the government of being wasteful with public resources.

The lawmaker claimed that money is being misappropriated and mismanaged by those in leadership positions.

“President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua say things are bad yet millions were allocated to buy vehicles and 50 Chief Administrative Secretaries were appointed,” Onyonka said.

Speaking on Citizen TV on Thursday, the legislator further said even the  President’s economic adviser David Ndii acknowledged that the government is wasteful.

“He (Ndii) has said they are getting trips that are not needed and doing things that are not needed. He has also concluded that the President should actually come with a moratorium,” Onyonka said.

He advised the government to manage resources well and give justifications for the seminars they hold by showing the impact of the money spent.

He noted that leaders were telling Kenyans the economy is bad yet they are allocating themselves millions to buy vehicles for dignitaries.

He said there must be consistency in the messaging by the President and his deputy.

“Right now Kenya sees what the president is not what he means,” Onyonka said.
