A man who allegedly exposed a 14-year-old boy to adult content chats has been charged with sexual communication with a child.

Joseph Kahanya Waweru Alias Njahe was charged before Kibera Chief Magistrate Ann Mwangi where he denied any wrongdoing.

The charge sheet read in court says that the accused person committed the offence on diverse dates between 2022 and January 2023 at Riruta in Dagoretti Sub-County, Nairobi County.

He is said to have committed the offence with the intent of encouraging the said child to communicate in a sexual manner.

He, however, denied the charges and through his lawyer pleaded for lenient bond terms.

He told the court that he was innocent until proven guilty.

He also mitigated that the accused person was from a humble background and even raising a cash bail of Sh5,000 was nearly impossible.

The magistrate released him on a Sh20,000 bond with an alternative cash bail of Sh10,000.

The court also directed that the accused person be supplied with all the witness statements and documentary evidence that the prosecution intended to rely on during the trial.

The Magistrate directed that the case be mentioned on another near date for a hearing.
