Kenya's special for maritime and blue economy Nancy Karigithu has unveiled her agenda for the international maritime organisation.

Karigithu has identified five goals she seeks to achieve in her four-year tenure if elected.

Speaking on Wednesday when she officially launched her bid for the organisation's secretary General Post, Karigithu has vowed to ensure inclusivity and diversity, global impact and promotion of global cooperation in maritime.

She has also promised to provide technical assistance in maritime development and ensure sustainable growth and development of the maritime sector.

"My deep commitment to the conservation of sustainable ecosystems and related global initiatives is demonstrated in my leadership efforts," she stated.

She noted that her experience spanning more than 40 years in the maritime sector and involvement in the activities of IMO will enable her to realise the goals.

Elections are scheduled to take place on July 18 this year.

She is seeking to replace the current holder Kitak Kim from South Korea whose terms lapses in December.

"My long and illustrious career spans maritime legislative drafting, strengthening and setting up maritime administrations not just in my home country-Kenya- but also in Africa," she said.
