The United Republic of Tanzania President Samia Suluhu has unveiled a new State House on the outskirts of Dodoma.
Dodoma is the capital of Tanzania.
On Saturday, Suluhu said the official inauguration of the new State House is a great historical event for Tanzania.
"Let's all unite to thank God for enabling us to reach this rare and noble milestone," she said.
Suluhu noted that the new State House has finally been unveiled 50 years later since the government made the decision to move the capital from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma.
"This new State House is the pinnacle of the Government's desire to move to Dodoma," Suluhu said.
She was reminiscent that the 50-year journey to move to Dodoma was approved by the Central Council of TANU in 1973.
This was after a referendum in its branches across the country.
She said the journey has received contributions from every regime that has ever led the country.
Suluhu went ahead to recognise the former Presidents for their contribution to the 50-year journey.
Suluhu said the new State House belongs to every Tanzanian.
She said it is through the ballot box that the nation decides who will rule for a certain period to serve all Tanzanians.
"The construction of our own State House with our strength, our money and our expertise is one of the testimonies of our freedom as a country," she said.
She gave a reminder that former President Alhaji Ali Hassan Mwinyi once said, "Life is a story"
Suluhu urged Tanzanians to each write a good story of their lives.
She said in July 25, 2016, Late President John Magufuli reminded the CCM General Meeting about the decision to move to Dodoma, and under his regime the construction of the new State House officially began.
"The late President Magufuli has written his story," Suluhu said.
