Six people are feared dead in Isinya, Kajiado county after a bus ferrying workers to a flower farm in Kiserian lost control after its brakes failed.

The bus had just left Isinya town at 7 am when it rolled some three kilometres killing three women and two men workers.

The workers were being transported to a flower farm in Kiserian.

One of the workers who survived said the bus swerved severally after its brakes failed.

The injured were rushed to Isinya subcounty hospital.

Isinya subcounty commander Patrick Manyasi confirmed the deaths.

Speaking to the Star, Manyasi said many people suffered limb injuries and he was busy organising for the injured to be taken to Kajiado Referral Hospital.

Kajiado Health executive Alex Kilowua said the victims could not be taken to Isinya health centre owing to the magnitude of the injuries.

“We arrived at the scene immediately after the accident happened and I had to mobilise three ambulances from Kajiado, Ngong and Kitengela county hospitals,” Kilowua said.

He said the county medical department acted promptly to the accident victims and that he hopes many lives will be saved.

Kilowua said 52 workers who survived the tragedy are in stable condition and still being held at Kajiado Referral Hospital, while 14 with serious conditions have been referred to Kenyatta National Hospital, Nairobi.
