A woman accused of causing grievous harm to another woman and calling her names has been arraigned at the Kibera court.

Agnes Namarome alias Shosho Janet was arraigned before Kibera senior principal magistrate Charles Mwaniki when the matter came up for hearing.

According to the charge sheet, the accused person scalded Frida Adhiambo with hot water on February 26 in Silanga area.

She was also charged with using abusive language contrary to the law.

Namrome, however, denied the charges.

She was released on Sh 50,000 cash bail with the surety of the same amount.

Testifying in court, Mary Shinaka, the complainant's mother narrated how things unfolded.

“Shosho Janet insulted me and tried to slap me but she missed my cheeks,” she said.

“When my daughter came to intervene, she came out with a jug of hot water and poured it on her.” 

Namarome claimed the complainant sustained burn injuries on her cheeks, chest and on the neck.

She further told the court that they later reported the matter to the police.

In cross-examinations, the accused person claimed she was also attacked and her blouse torn.

The case will be mentioned later this month for a further hearing.
