The Spouse of the Deputy President Pastor Dorcas Rigathi has continued with her plan of ensuring police mass weddings are held.

Speaking at the Kenya School of Government on Saturday, she noted that the foundation of her office is chaplaincy and family values.

Pastor Dorcas said her main goal is to establish strong and stable families in the country.

"I am delighted to be with you during this inaugural marital and family values counselling session, with our police officers here in Kenya," she said.

The meeting was attended by police chaplains, police servicemen, police spouses and a representative from the registrar of marriages.

The police officers shared in detail the challenges they face and their life in service.

Pastor Dorcas lauded the officers for their sacrifice in serving the country by ensuring many are protected.

"Before me are great men and women who have served this country very faithfully and sacrificed so that many may be protected. The life they live is a great sacrifice," she said.

She said earlier in January, she had a meeting with the Inspector General of Police, Japheth Koome.

Their meeting was aimed at holding mass uniformed weddings for police officers.

On the other hand, she urged people to support the program and for officers to solemnize their weddings.

"I urge all of you to be ambassadors of this program and encourage other officers across ranks to solemnize their weddings. We must also bring to an end the anguish spouses and children of deceased police officers go through in trying to access their inheritance," Dorcas added.

Pastor Dorcas shared her formative years married to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua when he worked as an administrator and was posted to different parts of the country.
