An employee attached to the Aga Khan University Hospital, Pharmacy department was on Tuesday charged with stealing drugs worth Sh50,000.

Peter Atinda Nyakung'u was charged before Kibera chief magistrate Ann Mwangi but denied the charges.

The court heard that the accused person being an employee of the said hospital stole the assorted drugs.

He allegedly committed the offence on April 6, 2023, at the said hospital in Westlands within Nairobi county.

He was charged with the second county of retaining the said drugs contrary to the Penal Code.

The accused person, however, pleaded for lenient bond terms.

Court prosecutor Jeff Musyoka did not object to his release on bond prompting Mwangi to grant him a Sh50,000 cash bail.

Mwangi also directed that the accused person be supplied with all the witness statements and documentary evidence that the prosecution intended to rely on during the entire trial.

The matter will be mentioned on June 12, for further directions
