Women leaders with disabilities led by former nominated MP Denitah Ghati on Wednesday called out the government to engage Persons With Disabilities in the ongoing Finance Bill 2023, discussions.

Speaking at Emory Hotel in Kileleshwa on Wednesday, Ghati said employability for people with disability is not well dealt with by the government.

"As women with disabilities, we are equally concerned about the taxation that is going to happen to PWDs because we are largely not employed," Ngati said

She states that the government and the county governments has not reached the 5 per cent employability threshold for PWDs as stipulated in the constitution.

"The counties where we come from PWD are not employed by countiesand the 5 per cent threshold required by the constitution has not been realised," Ghati said.

Ghati said the government should take full responsibility to ensure PWDs are employed before focusing on taxation.

"Matters with people living with disabilities must be given the attention that they deserve in the Finance Bill," Ghati said.
