Rarieda Member of Parliament Otiende Amollo has said the Finance Bill was passed despite them having opposed it.

Otiende said they opposed the 16 per cent on fuel and gas together with the housing tax.

Through a tweet, the MP said it was now time for history to take its course.

"We Reasoned, we opposed, we said no to the 16 per cent on fuel and gas. No to housing tax. No to the bill. Well, they have had their way! Let history judge...," he tweeted.

Omollo was one of the MPs who did not cast his vote on the Finance Bill 2023 in Parliament.

He again defied the Orange Democratic Movement's demand for a show cause letter after failing to vote on the Finance Bill, 2023.

The party said that he was among other pro-President William Ruto MPs who missed the crucial vote.

Secretary General Edwin Sifuna said the decision of the party will be communicated to them soon.

"The responses so far received are being processed in accordance with Rule 11 of the ODM Disciplinary Committee Rules, 2022 and the affected members will be informed of the verdict in due course," Sifuna said.
