Nairobi Chief Officer for Health Geoffrey Mosiria's aggressive night visits is putting key staff on their toes as Governor Johnson Sakaja's administration pushes for round-the-clock services.

Barely days after carrying out unplanned night visits to health facilities in East lands, Mosiria stormed the key Mbagathi Hospital on Monday night to assess how staff is carrying out night shifts.

During the unannounced tour, Mosiria was impressed with the level of preparedness and services by the medical staff whom he lauded for going out of their way to be on duty during conventional hours.

In such recent visits to health centres, dispensaries, and hospitals, Mosiria appealed to medical staff to serve patients with dedication and sacrifice, assuring them of Governor Sakaja's commitment to their welfare.

The visits are now said to have become a game changer in the county government's monitoring and evaluation mechanism to ensure that health facilities run smoothly.

Staff is now said to be punctual and at work throughout working hours for fear of being caught red-handed whenever Mosiria visits.

On Monday night Mosiria visited Mbagathi Level Five Hospital at around 12:45 am to assess the delivery of services at the crucial facility which is at the centre of driving Sakaja's health agenda.

During the visit, Mosiria encouraged the staff to stick to work ethics including working shifts so as to ensure that residents access quality healthcare round-the-clock.

''As health professionals, your work is cut out to ensure our people access healthcare anytime and without any challenges,'' Mosiria told staff.

Monday night's visit is one of the many night tours he has held across key health facilities in the county recently to ensure that they are always prepared to serve residents at any time.

Mosiria has also been distributing supplies to various hospitals across the city to ensure they are well-stocked with pharmaceuticals and non-pharmaceuticals.

Sakaja is keen on a functional health sector as a key cog of his commitment to ensuring access to healthcare by residents round-the-clock.

He has also been conducting incognito visits to health facilities across the county to monitor the delivery of healthcare in line with his vision.

Mosiria said he specifically chose to visit beyond working hours to assess the presence of staff and the quality of patient care during the night shift.

''It is my intention to ensure that all employees are diligently carrying out their duties,'' Mosiria said.

During the visit, Mosiria said he was pleased to find the staff actively engaged in their work and providing attentive care to the patients.

'He said his observation reaffirmed the commitment of the healthcare professionals at Mbagathi to their responsibilities, even during unconventional hours.

Mosiria has employed a proactive approach in line with the county administration's dedication to upholding high standards of healthcare provision.

This, he has said, will ensure that both staff and patients receive the best possible support and attention, regardless of the time of day.
