A couple was arrested for questioning in connection with the murder probe of a 25-year-old woman in Nairobi’s Zimmerman area.

The deceased identified as Lucy Mboli had stab wounds in the chest and neck when she was rushed to the Kenyatta University Referal Hospital on the evening of July 16 evening by her husband.

She is the first wife to one Kilonzo Muinde who is among those being questioned over her murder.

According to police, her co-wife is also being detained in the murder probe

Muinde rushed Mboli to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and later told police he had arrived at his Zimmerman home with Mboli on Saturday night and found the second wife there.

The second wife had her five-month-old child at that time.

Her presence prompted a brief fight and quarrel between the two women before Muinde calmed the situation, which however remained tense.

Muinde told police he managed to calm the situation, with Mboli sleeping on a three-sitter sofa set in their sitting room.

According to the man, he later heard Mboli calling for help and rushed to the sitting room where he found her on the floor.

It was then he decided to rush her to the hospital where she succumbed.

Police visited the scene and recovered the murder weapon, a blue-handled kitchen knife with blood stains, a cooking stick and one grey sweater soiled with blood on the left hand.

Police also recovered a white-flowered pillow soiled with blood, which the deceased was sleeping on.

Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said they suspect the woman was killed in the house.

“We are talking to the couple as part of the probe into the murder,” he said.

The body was moved to the mortuary where an autopsy is planned as part of the probe.

Meanwhile, police are investigating the death of a 26-year-old man who was found dead in his house in Kawangware area, Nairobi.

The man had earlier complained of not feeling before he retired to bed where the body was found.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.
