Russia censures foreign envoys for interference in Kenya's affairs

The Russian Embassy has fired back at ambassadors and commissioners from other countries who raised concerns over the anti-government demos in the country. 

The foreign missions, in a joint statement raised concern over the violence that happens during the Azimio anti-government protests. 

On Tuesday, the Russian Embassy questioned their concerns.

"If it is not interference in internal affairs, what is it?" the Russian Embassy posed. 

The foreign missions, in their joint statement, called for peaceful resolutions to the current protests in Kenya.

"We recognise the daily hardship faced by many Kenyans and urge all parties to table their concerns through a meaningful dialogue and resolve their differences peacefully to build the nation together," the ambassadors said. 

The missions said they are saddened by the loss of life and further raised concern over the high level of violence witnessed during demos. 

"Including the use of live rounds and the destruction of property, during the recent demonstrations," they said in the statement. 

They called for peaceful solutions to the demos to ensure no further loss of life.

The foreign missions said they stand ready to support both the Kenya Kwanza and the Azimio Coalition in their efforts to find constructive and peaceful solutions. 

The foreign missions that were part of the statement included Australia, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Ukraine, Canada, Finland, USA and UK among others.
