Simba Arati to appear before Senate finance committee

The lawmakers will be seeking an explanation from Arati on the pending bills and the criteria used to pay a section of the providers.

Kisii Governor Simba Arati is expected to appear before the Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Budget.

"The committee members resolved in a meeting held on Tuesday to invite Governor Arati following numerous pleas by several entities to have the Committee intervene and have their Bills settled," they said in a statement.

They also noted that the lawmakers will be seeking an explanation from Arati on the pending bills and the criteria used to pay a section of the providers.

Arati is set to appear before the committee within two weeks.

"The committee chair Ali Roba gave a resolution directing Governor Arati to appear before it within 2 weeks to address the concerns raised," they said.

The committee also directed the Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya Kamau Thugge to appear.

He will address the issues and the fraudulent withdrawal of funds from accounts belonging to customers at various banks.

"The committee directed the Governor of Central Bank of Kenya Kamau Thugge to appear before it within a month to address issues raised by members. Among them is the question by the Vice Chair of the committee Tabitha Mutinda on the fraudulent withdrawal of funds from accounts belonging to customers at various Kenyan banks, " they said.

Members in attendance were Ali Roba (Chairperson), Tabitha Mutinda (Vice Chairperson) and Richard Onyonka.
