Azimio Chief Raila Odinga has finally made his first appearance after missing last week's anti-government protests.

The ODM party leader came out on Tuesday to address the international media.

Azimio spokesperson Makau Mutua announced Raila's appearance through a post on Twitter.

"Happening now. Raila Odinga addressing the international press on the crisis facing Kenya in Nairobi, "Mutua said.

Last week, the Azimio coalition had planned a three-day anti-government demos that ran from Wednesday to Friday.

Raila did not make an appearance on the first day of the three-day demos, nor did he appear on Thursday. But in the evening, he spoke to NTV saying he had been down with flu.

"Nilipata homa mbaya sana... Lakini sasa nazidi kupata afueni. Nitakuwa sawa sawa," he said in a phone interview with NTV.

He said the demos were organised to benefit Kenyans, adding that the Azimio co-principals did not need to be present for them.

"Niko, Baba niko. Tena nashiriki pamoja na wenzangu kwa hii maandamano. Maandamano sio ya Baba au ya Mama (Narc leader Martha Karua) au ya Kalonzo (Wiper leader)," he said.

"Maandamano ni ya Wakenya wote. Timu yote ya Azimio iko sawa kabisa. Wanaongoza maandamano katika eneo tofauti. Sio lazima waonekane wao wenyewe kwenye bara bara."
