In an interview with the Star, talent coach Murithi Murani sheds light on the advantages that come with the timely discovery of one's talents.

He said being known for one's talents opens doors to spaces where the talent can be nurtured further as well as celebrated.

"The major advantage of discovering one's talents sooner is that it helps integrate vitality of talent with the identity of the person in the general perception, hence creating spaces for growth," he said.

Additionally, he says knowing one's talent while still youthful and full of stamina gives one enough time to grow their talent.

"It gives one ample time to discover themselves in the form of the specific talent and gives them a chance to discover abilities while still young and energetic," he said.

This,  he said, enables one to fully nurture their talents since one does not have many responsibilities while still young.

Murani pointed out that knowing one's talents in time gives room for exposure, which attracts support.

"Early talent discovery helps one to become known inside the influence of their talents, which creates chances for support in growth by others," he said.

"This uniqueness is what separates one from the crowd and attracts genuine support."

Murani advised that people should strive to identify their strengths early enough as it also helps career-wise.

"Knowing your strengths helps you identify opportunities that would be a good fit for you," he said.

"The best way to determine the next steps in your career journey is to understand who you are first, which includes reflecting on your strengths."

He further said that the better one knows their natural talents, the more they can draw from them to search for and identify opportunities that will give them the chance to do what they do best every day.
