A 34-year-old loader was Tuesday killed when a heap of glass he was loading onto a lorry trapped him in Gikomba, Nairobi.

Lazarus Mutua died on the spot after the accident in their hardware.

A second loader was injured and rushed to hospital, police said.

They were working at the Lucky Glassmart with other loaders when the accident happened.

Police were called to the scene after it had happened and processed it before moving the body to the mortuary pending autopsy.

Elsewhere in Parklands area, two workers were injured after a perimeter wall they were erecting caved on them.

The two were excavating the site when the wall caved in trapping them.

They were both rushed to Aga Khan Hospital where they are being treated in fair condition.

Police who visited the scene said the injured persons were working without protective equipment.

Fatal accidents at construction sites have been on the rise amid calls to address the trend.

Police records show up to three cases are reported in a week in the city alone. Various agencies are investigating the incidents.

Meanwhile, police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found on a sofa set in her house in Shauri Moyo area, Nairobi.

Police said Nancy Syombua, 45, was found lying unresponsive on her couch long after she had died.

Police have established that the deceased had arrived in Nairobi on July 24 from their rural home Embu and locked herself inside her house.

Neighbours had to break into her house and found her lying dead on the sofa set with visible minor injuries on the left thigh, police said.

The motive of the incident is yet to be known.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.
