Detectives are investigating an incident in which a six-year-old disabled boy was killed in a fire incident in a village in Nyandarua.

Officials said the incident happened in Kirathimo village on July 26 at about 3 pm.

The boy was in the house alone when the fire broke out consuming the three-roomed structure.

Police said the cause of the fire is yet to be known but investigations to establish if it was arson are ongoing.

The remains of the boy were discovered long after the fire had been contained but flattened the structure.

In the same area of Ololiondo village, one Gilbert Maina Wambui 39 was found dead on a tree after an apparent suicide.

This was one of the five cases of suicide that were reported to police on Wednesday alone.

Police said they are investigating the incident after a rope was found tied around his neck.

The scene was visited and five empty bottles of 250ml whisky each were recovered.

No suicide note was recovered at the scene, police said.

In Ganze, Kilifi County, the body of one Hamisi Ndoko Lune, 36 was found hanging from the rooftop of his of his three roomed house after suspected suicide.

Police said the body was found hanging with two bedsheets tied around his neck.

In Nzombe, Kitui county, one Katuku Kiema, 26 was also found dead with his body hanging on a tree with a rope tied around his neck.

The scene was visited by police, and no suicide note was found, police said.

In Jomvu, Mombasa, at Kalima village, one Belgi Makarango alias Walalo, 28 was found hanging from a tree with a nylon rope tied around his neck.

Police said they are yet to establish the motive of the incident.

In Yatta, Machakos County, the body of a 14 boy was found hanging on a tree after a suspected suicide.

The parents of the boy said they had sent him to fetch firewood but failed to return prompting a search.

The body was found a day later hanging on a tree in a forest with a rope tied around his neck.

No suicide note was recovered, police said.

The bodies of the victims were moved to the mortuaries pending autopsies and further probe, police said.

Cases of suicide have been on the rise in the country amid calls to address the trend.

Police say they receive at least three cases daily hence need for attention to the menace.
