Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has asked President William Ruto to do whatever it takes to deliver the pledges he made to the people.
Speaking during a church service in Ukunda, Kwale County, Sakaja said the President will be judged after the lapse of his term in office.
“Do whatever it takes to keep the country stable, uphold the Constitution and deliver to the Kenyan people. We are behind you,” he stated.
Sakaja appealed to Opposition leaders to keep politics aside and join Ruto in nation-building.
“Let us forget politics for a little while. We will go back to politics in 2026 and 2027. For now, we need stability to deliver to the Kenyan people,” he stated.
He said the President should remember that the people who voted for him and those who did not are all his people.
“Work for all Kenyans. You are the President. You are the one who took the oath. You are the one who was given the sword,” he stated.
Mining Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvuyra said the Opposition must first acknowledge Ruto is the president before they can call for talks.
“The 2018 handshake was different. The 2007 situation was also different from the current scenario,” the CS said.
He said the talks between the government and the Opposition should be about the cost of living.
