Parents affected by the Finland education scam in Uasin Gishu have protested demanding a refund of more than Sh300 million.

Police escorted the parents during the peaceful protests but blocked them from accessing Governor Jonathan Bii's office.

The parents carrying placards and twigs marched along the main Uganda Highway in the town and headed to the county commissioner's office.

Led by Edward Kiptek, they threatened that they would disrupt the devolution conference to be held in Eldoret from August 15th to 19th.

One of the parents Julius Rono said he had suffered stress after paying Sh4.2 million to have his three children study in Finland and Canada but they all missed out.

He said they no longer need their children to go overseas but a refund of all money they paid.

"We have suffered enough and all we need is a refund of the money we paid," Rono said.

County commissioner Eddison Nyale who later addressed the parents said the matter was keenly being followed.

He said a meeting has been scheduled with parents on Thursday.

"As county commissioner together with my security team, we will be at the meeting to ensure we know what happened," Nyale said.

Human rights activist Kimutai Kirui said they would go to any lengths to ensure the parents are refunded.

"We have suffered enough," Kirui said.
