Put Kenya first, CS Duale urges ahead of Ruto-Raila talks

Defences CS Aden Duale has asked a 10-member team appointed by both the Kenya Kwanza and Azimio la Umoja coalitions to prioritise the needs of the nation.

This comes after the Kenya Kwanza Alliance unveiled a 5-member team that will engage the Azimio coalition on key areas that will be agreed upon.

Duale asked both teams to focus on the national interests even as he called for transparency during the talks.

The CS said President William Ruto's government is committed to listening to suggestions that will help in the delivery of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

"All we ask is, let us carry honesty and transparency to this dialogue," he said in a tweet.

"And, even as we do so, let us be reminded to - in the spirit of patriotism and democracy - put country first before self: Kenya Kwanza!"

National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah,  Aaron Cheruiyot (Senate Majority Leader), Embu Governor Cecile Mbaririe, Hassan Omar ( EALA MP)  and Bungoma Woman Rep Catherine Wambilinga will represent the ruling coalition in the talks.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi, DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa, Nyamira Senator Okong'o Omogeni and Malindi MP Amina Mnyanzi will represent the Azimio coalition.

The talks are set to be mediated by former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo.
