Reversing lorry crushes one-year-old boy in Dandora

A one-year-old child was crushed to death at a parking lot in Dandora area, Nairobi.

Police said the driver of a lorry was reversing the motor vehicle from the parking lot.

The child was wandering behind the lorry and the driver did not know when he arrived to start it and leave.

According to the police, the lorry knocked and crushed the boy in the Wednesday incident.

Neighbours who witnessed the tragic incident screamed for the attention of the driver in vain.

The incident happened as the driver left for work at about 8 am, police said.

The body of the boy was moved to the Mama Lucy hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination while the lorry was detained for inspection.

Meanwhile, a beggar was lynched by a mob after he and another man had beaten to death his colleague in an argument over money in Roasters area, Nairobi.

Police said the incident happened at Alsops River, where two male vagabonds believed to have been good friends and a friend killed the victim identified as Ben.

An angry mob cornered one of the suspects as he tried to escape the scene and beat him to death.

Police arrived there moments later, picked up the bodies and took them to the mortuary.

Police handling the case said they are looking for the other suspects who were involved in the killing.

The detectives said they had established the group differed on how to share the day’s collection leading to the beating.
