Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has suggested that the dialogue talks between Kenya Kwanza and the opposition should be held at Uhuru Park.

Speaking in Kagio, Kirinyaga County, Waiguru said the talks should be made public for every other citizen to witness  the proceedings.

"We want the dialogue between Kenya Kwanza and the Opposition open to the public. It should be held at Uhuru Park, where there will be microphones, and speakers for every other citizen to witness the talks," she said.

Waiguru's sentiments were echoed by Kimani Ichungwah who said the opposition should forget about the Serena hotel plan and make public the talks.

Ichungwah even suggested that a public primary school should be set aside its field and allow the politicians to have a dialogue under a tree, and enable members of the public to also witness the talks.

"In fact, we should meet at a school in Nairobi, under a tree, and talk, the public should also be able to listen to our talk and witness what is going on," he said.

The MP insisted that there will be no handshake talks, and the Kenya Kwanza team is focused on listening to the other party in order to come up with a solution.

"Mr. President, we assure you that we will not have handshake talks, but rather handle five issues at hand, soberly, we are ready to listen to them," he said.

Both Azimio and Kenya Kwanza unveiled five members for the proposed talks.

Azimio's delegation will be led by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka with Minority leader Opiyo Wandayi, former Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa, Nyamira Senator Okong'o Omogeni and Malindi MP Amina Mnyanzi as the other members.

Azimio raised issues including the cost of living, audit of the 2022 elections, bipartisan reconstitution of the IEBC, inclusivity in national affairs and respect of political parties in line with the Constitution.

The Kenya Kwanza delegation will be led by Majority leader National Assembly Kimani Ichung'wah,  Aaron Cheruiyot (Senate Majority Leader), Embu Governor Cecile Mbarire, Hassan Omar ( EALA MP)  and Bungoma Woman rep  Catherine Wambilinga.
