Nyamira Township ward MCA Duke Masira has recounted events that led to the grisly road accident that killed Nyamai ward MCA Elijah Osiemo.

The accident occurred along Maai Mahiu-Naivasha Road on Monday afternoon.

"We met a motorbike that was carrying charcoal. When our driver tried avoiding the motorbike, the rider panicked and veered more into the road ," he said.

"Our driver tried to avoid hitting the motorbike but ended up hitting the sacks of charcoal."

It was after they hit the sacks of charcoal that their vehicle lost control and overturned into the escarpment in Mai Mahiu, Narok County.

Masira said he was seated at the front with the driver of the vehicle who happens to be Nyatichi's driver.

"All I can say is sorry to the family of my brother Osiemo. He had a very young family," he said.

Osiemo, other than being the Nyamai Ward MCA also served as the Nyamira county assembly majority leader.

Following the accident, the two surviving MCAs were rushed to Naivasha Level Four Hospital for treatment.
