An  Officer Commanding a police station in Nyandarua on Tuesday escaped arrest after allegedly demanding a bribe worth Sh100,000 from traders.

However, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission arrested his colleague who allegedly received a bribe of Sh60,000 from a trader on his behalf.

It is claimed that the junior was instructed to collect the money by the OCS.

The arrest was made following investigations into a complaint received from a trader about the alleged bride demand.

"The OCS  had demanded Sh100,000 from a trader as a condition for allowing him to run his businesses in the town ‘smoothly’ and ‘uninterrupted'," EACC said.

The officer had allegedly received Sh30,000 from the trader and the Sh60,000 received on Monday was part of the unpaid balance.

EACC detectives nabbed the police officer after he had pocketed the amount but the OCS managed to flee from detectives thus escaping arrest.

The Commission is still pursuing him.
