President William Ruto has warned public servants who are prone to corruption to change their ways.

Speaking during the opening of the Devolution Conference in Uasin Gishu County, the Head of State said any person implicated in the loss of funds must encounter punitive consequences for their actions.

"I expect the agencies concerned to move with speed and attend to cases of corruption in counties. I wish to submit to this conference that we have a solution to kill poor governance and incompetence in counties," he said.

"It cannot be business as usual. Any person implicated in the loss of funds must encounter punitive consequences of their actions."

Ruto added that the only solution to do away with corruption is digitalisation and automation saying every leader should embark on a journey of integrating digital solutions.

"We are going to support all the county government to digitise their services. I have also instructed the department responsible to work with counties as it is required of us by the law," he said.

The president also said that leaders across all divide were elected by Kenyans to work for them and deliver services, and not to improperly use their taxes for personal gains.

"I have a contract with Kenyans, they elected me to guard their funds and taxes, and we must be accountable. All funds must be used appropriately. No room for corruption," he stated.
