President William Ruto has said that the prices of foodstuffs have started to go down.

"We are happy that it has rained this year, we went to Nyayo stadium and prayed, we have distributed fertilisers across the country and farmers have done well so far, everyone now is in agreement that prices of food commodities have started to go down," he said.

The President said that through the Ministry of Agriculture, the government has so far distributed 3.5 million bags of fertilisers, and is projecting to give out 6.5 million bags next year.

Ruto added that his administration is focused on eradicating hunger, as it is an embarrassment that there are people who are still sleeping hungry.

"We are fighting hunger, and we will win it, it is sad that there are people who are still sleeping hungry," he said.

In 2022, Ruto said that he is already making efforts towards helping farmers, to work in eradicating hunger.

“Farmers have had problems in the past with access to seeds and fertilizer but we are ready to giver seeds and fertilisers to you at affordable prices so that we can end food scarcity,” he said.

He said producing more food is the only way to end the shame of hunger and famine plaguing the country.
