Passionate officer: Wanga mourns advisor on intelligence issues

Says Bernard Omuga was determined to ensure everything was done according to plans.

Homa Bay Governor Gladys has joined county officials in mourning her advisor on intelligence and security issues Bernard Omuga. 

Wanga described Omuga's death as sudden.

“It is with deep sorrow that I learn the sudden demise of my Intelligence Advisor and Deputy Director Inspectorate Services, Bernard Omuga," she said.

"The deceased has been an integral part of the team that has been working in delivering promises to the people of Homa Bay."

Wanga described Omuga as a passionate and straightforward officer who was determined to ensure everything was done according to plans.

“His death is a loss, not only to his loved ones or my administration but to the entire county at large,” she added.

The governor prayed for solace and peace for the family friends and relatives during these trying moments.

The advisor was pronounced dead on Saturday night after he was rushed to Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment.

County police commander Samson Kinne said they are investigating the cause of his death.

Kinne said they will interrogate those who were with Omuga before his death. It is reported that his mouth had foamed when he died.

"Investigations are underway to find out what could have led to his death. Undertaking postmortem is part of investigations,” Kinne said.

Before he started working for the county government, Omuga served as Kanyach Kachar a chief.
