President William Ruto has announced the visa-free entry of Indonesian citizens to Kenya.

Speaking during the joint press briefing at State House with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Ruto said Kenya is open for business between the two nations

"A significant step between this progress has to be the relaxation and progressive abolition of visa restrictions to entry between our two nations," he said.

"As our part as Kenya, we have taken the decision to extend the visa-free entry not only to holders of diplomatic and service passports but to all holders of the Indonetian passport, so our friends from Indonesia can now come to Kenya visa-free."

This is the third country within a month that the government has announced that will enjoy visiting the country visa-free.

Comoros and Senegal nationals were in July given the freedom of coming into the country visa-free.

Ruto said the government will abolish the visa requirement for Comoros citizens by the end of the year

"I give you a commitment that Kenya shall abolish the requirement of visas for all persons holding valid travel documents issued by the Union of the Comoros into Kenya, before the end of 2023," he said.

For Senegal, Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs said after a bilateral meeting between President William Ruto and Senegal President Macky Sall, the two nations will enjoy visa-free visits to the countries.

"It was announced that following Kenya’s earlier decision to lift visa restrictions to holders of Senegalese passports, Senegal has now reciprocated by providing free visa entry to Kenyan passport holders," he said.
