A businesswoman code-named 'Mathee wa Ngara' has claimed she is being used as a scapegoat in a drug syndicate saga.

Nancy Kigunzu says investigative agencies have launched a major hunt to have her unfairly arrested and charged based on trumped-up charges.

In documents filed before the Milimani Law Courts, Kigunzu claims she is a law-abiding citizen and does not understand why the police are after her.

"I have never committed any crime in Kenya nor have I been involved in any criminal activity in Kenya neither personally not jointly with others and I therefore do not understand why the police are looking to arrest me," she says in her court papers.

Through Advocate Shanice Maingi, Kigunzu has asked the court to issue orders stopping her arrest and charging before the court without the agencies conducting a probe and allowing her to be heard.

Also sought is an order for anticipatory bail.

She has further accused the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the Inspector General of using their offices to illegally arrest and detain her two sons for five days without any reason.

The two are minors aged 16 and 17 respectively.

Kigunzu believes the purpose of her son's arrest is aimed at threatening her and subsequently arresting her without following due process.

According to the court papers, Kigunzu says she became aware of the arrests made in Ngara through the media.

"A few days later it was reported in the media that one of those arrests was of a wrong person, code-named Mathe wa Ngara," she says

She claims her sons were among those arrested and are still being held at Pangani Police Station.
