Former Kisumu West MP Olago Oluoch has been nominated as a member of the National Government Constituency Development Fund Board (NG-CDF).

Oluoch unsuccessfully defended his seat in the 2022 general election losing it to Rosa Buyu.

He is among the politicians from the Nyanza region who ditched Azimio for President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza camp.

The nomination of the ex-lawmaker was announced Tuesday in a communication delivered by National Assembly speaker Moses Wetangula on the floor of the House.

“I wish to report to the House that I have received a message from the National Treasury cabinet secretary Njuguna Ndung'u regarding the nomination for persons for appointment to the NG-CDF Board,” Wetangula said.

“In the message, the CS conveys that in exercise of powers conferred to him by section 51 (e) of the NG-CDF Act 2015, he nominates the following persons as members of the NG-CDF Board and now seeks the approval of the House,” he added.

Others nominated are Janet Teyiaa and Senator Naomi Shiyonga.

The names have now been forwarded to the National Assembly’s select committee on NG-CDF for consideration.

Standing Order 45 provides that upon receipt of notification of a nomination of appointment, such nomination shall stand committed to the relevant committee for consideration.

The board is domiciled within the Ministry of Treasury and manages the CDF at the national level.

Its main purpose is to address the socio-economic development of the people at the constituency level in order to reduce poverty and enhance regional equity.

The fund established under the NG-CDF Act 2015.
