Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has shut down social media critics who allege he was in a romantic relationship with media personality Azziad Nasenya.
In an interview with Kenyans, the CS said the two don't have a relationship whatsoever.
"No. Azziad is not my girlfriend. I actually feel so bad and sorry for the poor girl," Ababu said.
"You know me I have been in the trenches and when you work in public spaces you grow the skin of a crocodile, covered by Hipo covered by a skin of a Buffalo. People who have not circulated in this space go through it," he said.
Ababu added that the Ministry of Sports appointed Azziad alongside other talented Kenyans to a technical team because he believed they would add value.
"Why anyone would pic a particular photo and spin it into something completely inappropriate is reprehensible. I would say that it absolutely acceptable to put public servants under scrutiny, it is also not fair to spread rumours and slander the character of innocent people," he said.
"Why do you want to destroy the reputation of a young person who is an example of a real hustler who has hustled her way to take care of herself and her family," he added.
The CS said he believes Azziad and him have not been treated fairly.
"Aziad is as innocent as I am."
