National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has explained what it took for him and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi to join President William Ruto's camp.

Speaking in Bungoma during the interdenominational service, the Speaker said it took the two of them up to four dinners with Farouk Kibet before they met the President for possibilities of working together ahead of the August 2022 polls.

“This is my brother. Musalia and I ate Farouk Kibet’s dinner four times before we met you (President Ruto,” Wetangula said.

He added that it was not an easy decision to join the UDA camp.

Both Wetang'ula and Mudavadi worked with the Opposition leader Raila Odinga in 2013 and 2017.

“We agreed to meet you to plan and discuss the pros and cons as we had struggled in 2013 and 2017 and wanted to know what next," Wetangula noted.

"We are having the last laugh, he who laughs last, laughs the longest."

“In 2017, we were in National Super Alliance (NASA) and when the Supreme Court called for a repeat election, our candidate (Raila Odinga) boycotted making us lose,” he said

"Nilikua nazunguka hapa nikitangaza NASA hao. I will work hand in hand with Wetangula, there is no supremacy battle between the two of us. We all have our responsibilities and do our jobs."
