A 62-year-old woman was killed in an argument with a shopkeeper over Sh20 in a village in Kakamega County.

Police reported that the incident occurred in Kabras, where Sarah Molonje died after being struck with a stone on the chest.

Allegedly, the woman argued with the shopkeeper, which enraged him.

He then picked up a stone and fatally struck her in the chest, leading to her immediate death.

Angry villagers reacted to the incident by setting fire to the suspect’s house and other structures, resulting in a chaotic scene.

The suspect responsible for the murder of Sarah Molonje managed to escape the villagers' retribution and is currently at large; he has not been apprehended by the police.

Witnesses recounted that the deceased had been shopping at the store when the argument ensued.

The body was transferred to Kakamega Referral Hospital mortuary, where it awaits postmortem examination.

In a separate incident in Kasarani area, Nairobi, the body of a mechanic was found on the roadside.

Police said the body was found within Naumba estate and the victim was identified as Kelvin Kibathi Wambui aged 25.

A team of police who visited the scene said the victim did not have any physical injuries.

In another incident in Thika, the body of a man was found in Darugo stream. The body of the man who was later identified as Kanyi Maina had visible injuries in the head.

Police suspect the victim was killed elsewhere and the body dumped at the site.
