Kabete water reservoir to be shut for six hours over leakage

The shutdown will happen for only a few hours as the Nairobi Water works to repair the major leak.

Nairobi Water has said it will down the water supply in some areas in Nairobi due to a major leak at the Kabele Water Treatment Works Reservoir.

The shutdown will happen for only a few hours as the Nairobi Water works to repair the major leak. 

"Regretfully, we shall shut the water supply outlet from Kabete reservoir for six hours today August 31, 2023, from 10.00 am to facilitate repairs of the leak," Nairobi Water said. 

Nairobi Water said the leak is on the Manifold outlet pipeline of the Kabele Water Treatment Works Reservoir. 

The common manifold outlet pipeline divides into various water distribution pipelines heading to Westlands, Lavington, Kilimani, Riverside, Kibera and Lang'ata.

"The following areas will experience water supply disruptions during the shutdown, areas along Walyaki Way, Chiromo Road, Westlands, Parklands and MP Shah Hospital Riverside, Lavington, Kilimani," they said in a statement. 

"Amboseli area, areas along Gitanga Road Nairobi Hospital, Kenyatta Hospital, Mbagathi Hospital and Forces Memorial Hospital Areas along Ng'ong Road, whole of Kibera and Lang'ata Estates."

Nairobi Water requested all customers in the affected areas to use water sparingly during the period of interruption," Nairobi Water said. 

"Any inconvenience is highly regretted," they said.
