President William Ruto will today grace the cash award ceremony to honour athletes who represented the country in the World Athletic Championship in Budapest.

Various athletes will be honoured including gold winner Faith Kipyegon who set the bars high by securing two gold medals.

Kipyegon's two golds from Budapest capped a remarkable season in which she broke three world records - in the 1,500m, mile and 5,000m.

"This has been an amazing year for me. Making history today, winning two gold medals in a championship is what I was dreaming for this season," the 29-year-old said.

Other athletes who will be honoured include Mary Moraa who also secured gold in the 800-meter race and silver winner Emmanuel Wanyonyi, Beatrice Chepkoech and Daniel Simiyu.

Bronze winners Faith Cherotich, Beatrice Chebet, Jacob Krop and Abraham Kibiwott will also be honoured.

The event is also set to be the official unveiling of The Talanta Plaza.
