A 25-year-old man was arrested in a probe into the murder of a six-year-old girl in a village in Narok County.

The man is suspected to have killed the girl and buried her in a shallow grave at the weekend, police said.

The girl went missing from her home after she had been sent to a local shop for rice.

Police linked the murder to a long-standing family dispute after the girl went missing, the man was traced and questioned before he led the police to a shallow grave where he had buried the body.

A fork Jembe he is suspected to have used in the murder was also recovered, police said.

After the murder, he wrapped the body in a sack and buried it in a shallow grave.

The body was exhumed and taken to the local mortuary pending autopsy and other processes, police said.

The suspect was taken to court where police asked for a week to hold him to enable them to complete their probe into the murder.

Elsewhere the police are investigating an incident in which a manager of a club collapsed and died in the Kamulu area, Nairobi.

James Mwangi Gitau was at the workplace at the club at the weekend when he collapsed.

Other workers at the club rushed to his aid in vain. He died at the Afya Precise Hospital where he had been rushed to.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and further probe, police said.

In Mombasa’s Nyali area, a man was arrested in connection with the murder of his wife.

The incident happened in the Kwa Bullo area where the man and woman had fought.

Police said the woman succumbed to injuries in hospital following the fight.

It was then that her husband was arrested over the death pending probe.

He was later arraigned and police asked for more days to enable them complete the probe.
